Evonik Chemicals Limited

The production site on the east side of Manchester is a standalone plant belonging to the Crosslinkers Business Line.

The Clayton site has been a chemical facility since 1892. Formally occupied by Anchor Chemicals, the site was purchased by Air Products in 1989 to produce epoxy hardeners and PUA additives. It was purchased by Evonik in 2017.

Main products of the Clayton site are amine-based curing agents for epoxy resins (120 products; 75% of volume), catalysts for polyurethane foam (60 products; 20% of volume), and Surfynol® Specialty Additives blends (20 products; 5% of volume). Products from the Clayton site are mainly used in the following industries and applications: industrial coatings (marine and industrial maintenance applications), civil engineering (self-leveling compounds and screeds for flooring; concrete coatings), and polyurethane foam (comfort and insulation).

A creative and highly motivated team of around 60 employees works on tailor-made customer solutions for the entire value chain—from the development of the process to production. The location offers its customers a unique combination of technical expertise.
