The department "Corporate Responsibility" takes up the expectations of internal and external stakeholders with regard to the contributions of Evonik to sustainable development of our society. In close cooperation with the Business Units and other company functions, CR develops answers to future challenges and the resulting megatrends relevant for sustainability. In this matter, we understand sustainability as a chance to develop innovative products and solutions. In the daily activities of our employees, credibility and reliability are essential principles. Therefore we joined the UN Global Compact (GC) in 2009 and gave the undertaking that we will advocate the 10 principles of the GC. Our employees from all regions and countries we are doing business in understand these principles as a guideline for their own behaviour. Evonik is an active member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and of econsense, the German forum for sustainable business. To underline our responsibility for our products, our production and its further use, Evonik is co-signatory of the Responsible Care Global Charter of the International Council of Chemical Associations. In 2012 we furthermore participated in the Carbon Disclosure Project for the first time and contribute to the transparency in regard to our climate relevant emissions and our ambitious climate protection measures.
