VESTAMID® showcases a car’s engine.
Skip over functional column
Engine compartment components are exposed to high temperatures, chemicals, and mechanical stress. Heavily used surfaces can be suitably protected by films made from VESTAMID® , a high-performance polymer. VESTAMID® is scratch proof and resistant to chemicals, and can withstand temperatures of up to 150°C, with no deterioration in its mechanical properties. Once applied, the film stays in place and cannot be separated from the substrate. In contrast to conventional coatings, the thickness does not vary and there is no coating shadow; as a result, the surface of the engine has a sophisticated finish in addition to excellent surface protection.
In the recreation sector, as elsewhere, products must now be good looking as well as hard wearing. VESTAMID® films have successfully been used for many years as protective and decorative elements in sports equipment such as skis, snowboards, tennis and badminton rackets, and special sports shoes. The driving force behind application in this area was the search for more cost-effective and environmentally compatible coating processes. The industry also benefits from VESTAMID® in being able to design products more freely and individually, and to provide them with better surface protection.
Individualists and the fashion conscious get more than their money’s worth from VESTAMID®, which sets no bounds on designers’ creativity and imagination. VESTAMID® films can be printed by all the commonly used processes. The latest design development, used as a ski upper, is a VESTAMID® film with a 3D design embossed into the film, from both the front and back.
