Warehouse Specialist - Level head required

Done with school – now what? Evren Özkan talks about his apprenticeship as a warehouse specialist at Evonik in Germany.

Evren Özkan's job starts when a customer places an order: The 21-year-old apprentice checks whether the product is in stock and prepares it for shipping – initially at the computer in the office, then with a forklift in the warehouse and on the loading docks. Özkan, who is completing an apprenticeship as a warehouse specialist in Wesseling, Germany, knows that “without logistics, nothing works.” And logistics requires a level head and good organizational skills, “otherwise the customer won’t receive their order.” Özkan completed his general school education and went on to gain a vocational diploma. He plans to stay at Evonik beyond his two-year apprenticeship that involves training at a vocational school and in the company: “With good performance, I can continue for another year and qualify as a warehouse logistics specialist,” he says.

About the apprenticeship:

Evonik offers this apprenticeship in Darmstadt, Marl and Wesseling.
