The business line Care Specialties of Evonik is introducing TEGOSOFT® OER, a vegetable-based, enzymatically produced ester that not only imparts a caring, smooth, non-oily skin feel, but also is easy to formulate. The product can be incorporated into both oil-in-water (O/W) and water-in-oil (W/O)systems, and is suitable for color-sensitive cosmetic formulations.
"As environmental awareness grows, more focus is placed on new and effective ways to reduce emissions and conserve energy in the production process. In response to this growing need, Evonik Personal Care is the first supplier to commercialize biotechnologically-derived cosmetic esters," states Dr. Christian Noethe, Global Marketing Manager Personal Care.
The latest product of Evonik Personal Care’s environmentally friendly and sustainable enzymatic production process, TEGOSOFT® OER provides sensory properties to O/W and W/O formulations similar to those of cold-pressed jojoba oil.
Due to the enzymatic production process the product has less side components and shows much higher purity compared to other market products. Moreover, it is a clear emollient with very low color, and has no noticeable impact on the appearance of cosmetic formulations, unlike natural jojoba oil.
Applications include skin care products, sun care products, color cosmetics and other personal care products. In addition, TEGOSOFT® OER is fully biodegradable and preservative-free.
