State-of-the-Art Production and Logistics Center

The Weiterstadt site of Evonik Industries AG, established in 1967, owes its existence to the high demand for PLEXIGLAS® and other products as capacity expansion at the Darmstadt site reached its limits.

The 430,000 sq m Weiterstadt site, only 2 km as the crow flies from the Darmstadt site and with optimal transport connections to the A5 and A67 federal highways, now houses the ultramodern production facilities of the Performance Polymers and Coatings & Additives Business Units as well as a state-of-the-art logistics center of the Acrylic Polymers Business Line.

Weiterstadt produces sheet products of the PLEXIGLAS® GS and PLEXIGLAS® XT brands, the oil additive VISCOPLEX®, and the pharma polymer EUDRAGIT®, used as a tablet coating for controlled drug release. Weiterstadt also produces the world’s largest and thickest blocks of cast acrylic (PLEXIGLAS® GS).

The Weiterstadt site employs about 580 people.
